Spring Cleanouts

Spring is an important time of the year for pond maintenance. As water temperatures begin to rise, the ecosystem within your pond begins to awaken, much like a bear from their long winter slumber. As activity within a pond increases, it is important to keep things managed. Too much activity through fast growing organisms like algae can outpace the ponds ability to keep a balance, as the beneficial bacteria and aquatic plant life we all know and love are slower growing.

What We Do

A pivotal step to maintaining this balance is to perform a spring cleanout. During a spring cleanout, our team drains your pond, moving as much clean existing water and all the fish life into on site holding tanks. Once the pond is drained, we wash the entirety of the pond. While washing the pond we are able to remove any decayed bacterial and algal growth from the previous season, as well as any sunken debris. While this keeps the pond fresh and renewed looking for the upcoming season, it also limits the amount of nutrients in the pond for the fast growing algae to feed on. This provides a better opportunity for the beneficial bacteria and the aquatic plant life to maintain a balanced ecosystem throughout the season change.
